Styrkholm: private compounds above and below ground. Built to Hold.
Built to Hold.
Private compounds above and below ground, designed and built whole on land we help you find.
The Stronghold Refuge
Styrkholm builds complete private estates for families who plan in generations: a residence above, quarters below, and the land, water, power and food to stand entirely on their own.
We take on whole compounds only, never single structures, so that every part of the estate is planned, engineered and accountable to one team.
The Order of Work
From bare land
to stronghold.
Four phases, one contract and one point of accountability, from the first property search to the day your family walks in, and every season after.

Eight questions. Answer honestly; your answers stay in your browser unless you choose to send your score with a consultation request.
- 01
You have a property you could reach on a single tank of fuel
- 02
It draws its own water: a well, spring or stored reserve
- 03
It can power itself for two weeks without the grid
- 04
Ninety days of food is stored there for everyone you would bring
- 05
A secured perimeter with one controlled point of entry
- 06
Protected space below grade, or a reinforced safe room
- 07
Everyone in your household knows the plan and the route
- 08
The land could grow food next season
The Year at Styrkholm
An estate that
works all year.
A stronghold is not a room you wait in. It is a working estate that waters, powers and feeds your household through every season.
The estate wakes up.
Snowmelt and spring rain refill the reserves, the growing season begins under glass, and every system is inspected after winter.
Cisterns recharge from snowmelt and rain; wells are tested and filters changed.
Lengthening days bring the battery banks back to a full daily cycle.
Greenhouse starts go into the beds; the orchard is pruned and fed.
Perimeter walk, gate and seal inspection, chamber air systems serviced.
The estate produces.
Solar runs at its peak, the gardens and orchard come in, and surplus is stored for the months ahead.
Irrigation on timers; well draw and reserve levels monitored.
Peak generation; surplus banked and loads shifted to daylight.
Harvest and succession planting; the first preserving begins.
Defensible space cleared around structures; cooling systems checked.
The estate stores.
The cellar and pantry are filled, fuel is rotated and the compound is readied for cold.
Reserves topped off; exposed lines winterized.
Backup generation serviced; fuel stores rotated and filled.
Canning, drying and curing; the root cellar is stocked.
Firewood split and stacked; below-grade ventilation serviced.
The estate holds.
The household lives comfortably on what the year produced, with every system running quietly underneath.
Heated lines and stored reserves carry the household.
Battery and backup generation cover the short days.
Living from stores, with fresh greens from the greenhouse.
Snow access kept open; systems monitored; next season planned.

How to Choose Land for a Private Compound
Every stronghold is only as good as the ground under it. Here is how we evaluate a property before a single plan is drawn.

A well-built space below ground should feel like a fine home, not a bunker. That takes engineering most people never see.

Independent power is a system, not a product. It starts with understanding what you actually need to run.
